So I guess I should talk about music and such now. I did sorta promise I would, didn't I? It's just that there haven't been any good releases this year. Or any late last year, either.
I BLAME THE MUSIC INDUSTRY.
So for this post, I'll mostly be talking about good OLD things I've recently found. So they're at least new to me, right? Right? I might make fun of some crappy new pop hit. We'll see how I feel.
I guess I'll just list stuff I've been listening to lately?
His Name is Alive:
Pretty slick stuff. I have two of their albums, Detrola and Stars on E.S.P. They're quite hard to confine into one genre, as one albums differs from another. Even in one album there's a lot of variety.
There are a couple similarities in all of their albums, though. They're all quite layered for starters. They feature mainly female vocalists with soft, sexy, super voices. (Well I wanted another s, right?) There's only one "actual" member, Warren Defever. Sadly, this is his only project, although he has produced and remixed quite a bit.
Their overall sound is quite produced, although the mixing is notoriously bad. If you can get past that little fact, they're a rather fun band to listen to, be you hopping, moshing, or chilling.
Maserati:
All I have to say about this band is WOAH DUDE.
Albert Hammond Jr:
One of the band members of The Strokes' solo work. Expect it sounds nothing like The Strokes. Which is a good thing, imo. It's your typical indie band. Except good. It's got nice, simple, expressive drums. Eight note powerchord rhythm guitar. Cooing vocals that sound like they were recorded in your living room. Bright, poppy lead guitar. Subtle, unobtrusive basslines. The occasional prancy synth, reminding you of children playing in meadows. That sorta thing.
PRETTY SWEET STUFF I'D SAY
Now, time for words.
